Many people know the importance and benefits of adding lubricating oil to the reducer, but few people know the dangers of adding too much lubricating oil to the equipment, so they do not pay much attention to adding too much lubricating oil. Now let’s talk about the dangers of adding too much lubricant to your equipment.

1. If too much lubricating oil is added to the reducer, the oil mixing loss will increase and the power will be lost.

2. The increase in temperature will reduce the viscosity of the lubricating oil, resulting in poor lubrication. Bearings and gears lubricated with lubricating oil will wear and run for a long time. If it is used to press industrial gear oil, not only the physical oil film will change, but the chemical oil film will also change, which will directly lead to gear pitting and other failure types.

3. Lubricating oil leakage: If it is a labyrinth oil seal, excessive oiling to a certain extent will cause seal failure and oil leakage; if a frame seal is used, too much oil is added, the temperature rises, the original seal design parameters change, and the inner lip of the frame seal changes. The working environment deteriorates and aging aggravates oil leakage.

4. In some occasions with high positioning accuracy, if there is no closed-loop control (encoder speed measurement, speed feedback), too much lubricating oil will also cause the speed of the reducer to be unstable.

Therefore, when you add lubricating oil to the reducer, be careful not to add too much. Otherwise, the harm of adding too much lubricating oil will far outweigh the benefits of adding lubricating oil to the equipment, which will be counterproductive. Therefore, we must pay attention to the amount of lubricating oil added and it must be appropriate.
