Because the stepper motor does not require A/D conversion and can directly convert digital pulse signals into angular displacement, it is considered an ideal CNC machine tool actuator.

In addition to their use in CNC machine tools, stepper motors can also be used in other machines, such as motors in automatic feeders, as motors in universal floppy disk drives, and in printers and plotters.
